1. Do you have a dress code in effect? Do I have to dress up to come to the Diplomat?
We have no formal dress code in effect. You do not require a Suit jacket or shirt and tie to dine at the Diplomat. We stress the importance of you feeling comfortable in coming as you are.
2. How much time should I allow to eat at the Diplomat?
All entrees begin with hot sourdough rolls and herbed butter, followed by soup of the day, or salad and your choice of stuffed, roast potato, rice, and your main entrée. Feel comfortable to take as much time as you like. You should notify your server at the outset, if you have any specific time constraints and we will be delighted to accommodate your schedule. You should allow 1.5 to 2 hours if you plan on having a drink before, appetizers and dessert with your meal.
3. Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are not required. Walk-ins are always welcome. Reservations are highly recommended during the Christmas, New years, Valentines Day and Mothers Day celebrations.
4. Can I come to the Diplomat if I don’t want to order a full meal or I am just not that hungry?
Yes! We invite you to drop by for a light snack – salad or appetizers anytime. If you just want to get out of the house for a while, stop by the lounge, say hello to Sheryl and enjoy an after dinner drink and dessert.
5. Can we share an entrée and order an appetizer and or dessert? Will there be an extra charge for an extra plate to share an entrée?
We want you to feel comfortable ordering anything off the menu. We consider it our privilege to serve you any combination of items on our menu.
6. Are there different grades of beef used by restaurants in Regina? What grade of beef do you use?
There are three main grades of beef served by restaurants in Regina. They are grade A, AA and AAA. The Diplomat serves a special category of AAA steaks known as Angus Pride. Only the top 20% of the AAA grade beef meets the criteria to be sold under the Angus Pride name. Less than 1% of the restaurants in Regina serve Angus Pride beef. This beef is aged a minimum of 21 days.
7. I don’t know wines by brand name but I know what I like. Can you recommend a wine for us to try?
Our staff will be happy to help you. We have over 30 types of wines available by the glass or half liter to try. We have over 250 choices of wine by the bottle, some of which are not available locally in the liquor board stores.
8. Do you have any specials for birthdays or anniversaries?
We offer a $20 gift voucher for you on your birthday and anniversary. Yes we can accommodate you on another day if you were not able to make it on the specific date.
9. Do you have any private rooms? How many can you accommodate in these rooms? Is there any charge for these private rooms?
We have three private rooms available. They seat from 8 to 40 people. There is no charge for these rooms.
10. Being located downtown, do I have to pay for parking?
We have private parking for 17 cars as well as parking right out front on the street from 6:00pm on. For out of town quests staying at hotels, we will reimburse you for the cab fare downtown.
11. What do you mean by table side service?
We offer five main entrees, five flambee desserts, & five special coffees using table side service. Our servers prepare your meal right at your table in front of you.
12. Do you have booths that offer a private setting for business meals or romantic evenings out?
Yes our unique booth designs feature high backs to ensure private conversations. When seated, You cannot see over them into the next booth.
